And onto what we did last month in June. We made it down to the USA driving to our old home town. Always interesting going some where that used to be home! The pace of change is what you notice but the friends who remain there are so good to see! But first the saga of the robins!
One of the parents keeps watch
They have built there nest on the front door wreath
May 23rd eggs American Robin eggs appear
They are very well established
By Mid June we are hatched. Some time soon we will be able to use the front door again!
and the irises coming up!
More beautiful sights
I love seeing the different poppy colours
these side walk irises are super jolly
Such a pretty front door
Everything is going bonkers and this year it seems the seeds are more plentiful
Over the telly tubby fields of the golf course there's the glow of the evening setting sun....but also some smoke from the fires up north
More irses and river walks. These irises are in our garden and the colour is just devine, talk about royal blue
Just a perfect reflection
This is priceless, double decker? There are so many places that they could be and this is the vet pet carrier. Never the less, here they are. And yes that is Archi on the top bunk and Bella below. I actually think she has a 'hang dog expression'
Neither image seems real! Wowe
Sort of hyper 3 d! But this is just the light of the early evening
Light through the clouds and we are on our way South
Just love the wagon entryway!
Dusk and smoke over the car park over the boarder in USA
Downtown Syracuse, look at that amazing mural
The most amazing buildings. A lot were designed by
Archimedes Russell ( totally love the name)
You can see the similarity with New York architecture of the time and he was responsible for a lot of the design there too
You can really see it in Syracuse
It's fabulous that they have kept and preserved it
Look at this brick work! All those little details
So you've made some red sauce then!
As for street art on the mural
Just stunning. They have done a good job of elevating Syracuse by having this art. It really makes a difference and shows how proud they are. Rightly so coupled with the amazing architecture it is quite the surprise
Back on the road and we see some land rovers
This is Scranton PA, that we whizz by
And West Chester....that's a great flag, but I suspect they are not from around here
When I lived in WC I loved to see the laneway houses, they really are cool. This one had rooms behind the garage doors, so the outside looks the same, but inside is totally used as living space
I love the fact that they have put a wreath on the door. This building is not lived in and another laneway house potential
And how about this for interesting. A house that has a tiny house attached? Built at the same time and same style....
Happy Door
And I just saw this lorry going through the town of west chester and all those hay bales
West Chester University at Night
It has quite a bit of history WC uni and the buildings looked great lit up. We also saw fireflies! They are not something you can capture but they made it a magical walk
One of my favorite shots of the month, laneway at night, the vines and creepers and not forgetting that telegraph cable casting a wonderful shadow. You can just make out the door under the vegetation. Ally buildings are wonderful and it's so good they have kept them
Great shutteres on this one and such a wide porch
Since I've lived in West Chester they have been busy doing up houses and this little cutie has been completely reverbed.
This house also had been completely done up too. Lovely work on this and this night time shot makes it looks very cool
What's wrong with this picture! Yes this is the technique they use in West Chester for downspouts, its all well and good until it freezes!!!
I love the room on the roof! Cupola living. I believe that they did this as the original air conditioning
and the row. West Chester has such a lovely array of older homes, I miss that architecture! but not the brick sidewalks
On our way home we saw this electric car was filling up like we were, and it was from Quebec! and it had....
sparkly tire pressure caps!!!!
and an Isaac van!
The weather is pretty bad going through this road high up in the hills of New York State
But it does make for some dramatic skies
I love seeing the different barns in the landscape
Looks like rain
and these two barns are rather cool. The red barn with the bell?
And this more humble one, lots of windows?
Dusky evening skies and waterways
Back home in Kitchener
The Capalpa Tree.
Our area has loads of these and mid June these were in full bloom. They are amazing with their orchid like flowers and large broad green leaves.
Very majestic an they make an amazing carpet on the floor of their beautiful blooms
The flowers are so delicate and a riot of abundance
We saw this guy on the way home from our walk one day, he did quite the starring competition!
