June with places seen

I can't say that we are exactly in summer but with some 30 degree days this month if certainly feels that way. Of course there are those that talk of winter....for my part I stick with the now and what is happening today! But it does seem like winter is something from a very long time ago and that is wonderful. We have had full bone warming and beautiful skies.

I even managed to fly all the way to the other side of the country and back again. So I can confirm that Canada is indeed massive! and varied.

First out the gate is the Irises. Such beauties

No idea what this is, but the smell was amazing

and how about this for a busy worker bee

endless blue skies

and a birthday

24!!!! Look his t shirt matches the irises and I can honestly say that was not on purpose.

How about this, Archi and shuffle buM!!!!

Oops

a trip to Elora and the gorge

Nice to find a walk in the trees. By the way that black fence is where the gorge sides are and it is very very far down!!! yikes

At the back of this church they had this pipe work. Isaac and I were very impressed with the snergly nature of it

This is what is above the door and I think that those clouds look like rain

Magnificent blossoms and I even managed to get rainbows

This is a baby sparrow and mum. Although he is blurred we get the message! He looks like a mardi teen

Oh hello, you're a funny one. This is a grackle

"Oh am I ever bored of talking on the phone" Archi mussed to himself

Wild and mad hostas.

and I spied a lovely old truck

Amazing mountains going to BC

Landing at night with the most glorious sunset

Early morning in Vancouver

And yes that is a gas station on the water!!!!

This is the setting, just breathtaking

We stayed here for a night on the way there

The sea planes in the harbor were really fun to watch

All the towers on the water

These planes are very very busy

So exciting this boat is about to fill up. I can't explain why this was fascinating to me. I suppose it is pretty mundane but I just thought the whole operation was brilliant

But this guy was the biscuit. With his pokey stick he guides the plane into place What!!!!

Then there are ropes and he is really putting his back into this. The propeller is still turning

Now they can get off. Please tell me you don't have to use a rope ladder, ok that's set then, no sea plane for me!

This chap is a loader, or baggage handler. Talk about labor intensive work and there is only one of these peeps too

This baby is about to fly

Weeeee and they're off

Coming into land and there is another right behind him

past the gas station

and down

Such activity on the water, I could watch this all day

He's just having fun!

This is the view from the hotel

all manner of boats

These are all working together, tug front and back

So much going on! so much to see. I found the work on the floaty thing pretty awesome too and the crane. Talk about a thing on a thing

Now this is a shot! Directly across the harbor is this pile. You can't tell from this photo but this is bright yellow and I mean bright as in Sulphur yellow! Amazing right! because that is Sulphur and this pile is always there. They mine it here and export it, they have huge reserves of it. I found that very interesting and lots of industry comes and goes, this is just steady all the time. So Vancouver harbor is known for it's Sulphur mound, who knew?
That's more like it, you can see it actually glows

The tower blocks were pretty impressive all shiny. Look at the clouds reflected on the glass. It makes some of them look like a mirage

I loved these house boats

Just a few

dotted in with the luxury yachts

This has to be the weirdest architecture on a tower block! I couldn't work that out

Googley eyes make it to Vancouver

Those mountain are amazing and yes there is snow on them

This is Bellingham WA USA

And them there hills are the Olympian Mountains in the sky like clouds

Huge marina

lovely reflections

and we saw these fellas, one look out and baby

off for an evening swim

The three sisters, that is the mountains

Mount Baker and yes a Heron! on the boat, having a preen

Mount Baker is quite mesmerizing and I was told it is active at times sending up steam....The snow was incongruous

Quite the fishing working harbor

Night time falls

This is the early morning pinky glow of Mount Baker

So many boats!!!!!

And more Herons

We tried to spend as much time down by the water as possible

This is as the sun goes down and the view from my bedroom

I had a stroll around Bellingham. Apparently it has 80,000 people living there

This is the railway station

Some interesting graffiti

Calm waters but you can see an industrial past in the back ground

graffiti and street art

This was a Bank Building

So I'd say there was some money here at one time. The port is pretty important and you can get a cruise to Alaska from there

More fabulous art

and yes I took note of this

and they have the uderground! Not sure what is meant by 'no cover ?'

Pretty specular mural

and this building is going for deep cover

The day was just sublime

Mountains and sea

Even the bins had these brilliant cut outs.

That's the federal building and that lion is I suppose a warning!!!!

I think you are meant to sit on this

More street art

Unfortunately no coffee here, but I like the sign and the window reflections on the wall. In fact all the reflections are pretty cool

I saw this one morning, Rise and Shine. Now that is brilliant. It is quite hilly here, as you can see from the phones lines sweeping up behind the silos/tanks

Off boating for the day. I love this effect of the smoky blue colour of the north west mountains receeding. Layers and layers of blue haze

These mountains dominate the town

Me and the Isaac

Big prize guy, this chap Isaac is presenting to swept the board and won over all. Good book then!

On the metro link and over the river and I see the lumber!

Mickey Mouse Cruise has arrived. I find it very curious the clouds and the tents mirroring each other, nice effect

and this little tug boat is the trash remover! I tell you it is whole life out there on the water

On the other side of this building another cruise ship and you can see the freight loading area. This is huge area and operation.

This is a art installation of an old hut. I rather liked this shed on stilts.

Clouds at the airport as we stay for a second night, fingers crossed the flight goes tomorrow

Mountain views are lovely

What a location

Back to the other side and the East, we made it

The geography seems unreal. I am so pleased I got to see it!
