Get Away: Part Three

I really am amazed that I have more to post...but I think that you will find these pictures worth it. I am leaving some out .....but this is the best of the best.

The thing with Cape May is that the environment is just spectacular and I don't mean the small strip of beach that people sit on. There is just so much to see around you. Whilst I was there I literally went about empty headed taking it all in. This is just some of what I saw.
I think that this is so 'there'. These beach environments do quickly turn into dunes and then marsh

This seems like the perfect shot and the mirrored effect of the water is stunning

love love love bullrushes

The lighthouse is such a great feature.

Birds like these swans seemed to be posing for their early morning shot

This is just breathe taking

As is this, I took first thing in the morning

These red winged black birds are ever present on the marsh grounds and they cling to the tops of the swaying grasses, they are flippin hard to photo swinging around but I got this one.

Oyster catches are all over the beach and they really let you get close

But this one was on a mission and he was hungry. He was literally feet away from me

Although he did get fed up!

These guys were standing on this mound and definitely weren't budging just because I was there

Thinking this is an osprey. They have encouraged them to nest in the marsh areas and they were busy on those nests.

More bullrushes

And Mr Broad winged Hawk...looks like a hawk man with extra long legs with the fence like that.

After a big storm the normally gently sloping beach has this ridge all the way along it.

This is just more sanctuary area

I was on the beach and I got this pic of an oyster catcher in flight

There is often interesting finds on the beach and I found this casing....

Storm? Really

So I'm on the marsh area and the water is completely calm

Sky looks weird

But just nothing to worry about

Oh look the light is visible from the lighthouse!!!!

The sea is a bit wild!!!!

I got caught in the most terrifying thunder and lightening storm

But eventually found shelter after running like a crazy lady..it was not pretty. I stayed in the shelter as the storm continued to rage. Mr F rescued me in the mini! but it was really scary being on a beach and seeing lightening striking the ground and in this instance I was for once the tallest thing!

The moon one night was truly amazing and I tried really hard to capture this

As the clouds passed over it

It was shinning so brightly on the water

But this is my all time favorite picture of the holiday...blurry I know but night time on the beach ....wow

Such fun sights about Cape May

Fab Rooster

Love the water tower...and look at that sky

This is a lot of fun....tennis ball in the fence

mushroom..sprung up, hot and warm will do that oh and damp!

lively fire hydrant

Funny looking birdhouse

Oh and Tesla having a charge...as you like it!

Old car.. going no where

Nighttime promenade Cape May
This seems a fitting way to end the epic blogging. A happy stroll along Cape Mays prom...boys in step and all is well in the world, for just a little bit,.

Get Away: Part Two

So really what is there to do on holiday. For us there are just 3 things, beach (once or twice then Louie realizes that it's boring), walking about (this covers beach, houses and conservation areas oh and shops) and crazy golf!

So of course this blog will be dedicated to those activities and the heroes of the Crazy Golf (check the one you know also refer to as, Pitch and Put and Miniature Golf.

Here is some of the pictures of those things................

This magnolia was in full flower and it was a huge tree! This flower is just a perfect specimen.

There are so many beautiful houses in Cape May, it is hard not to photograph them and this is a particular favorite of mine. It has shingles shakes (think that's what they are called) and they give the house a lovely 'lived in look'.

So many of the streets looked like this, with over flowing flowers and lovely railings.
Every time I come to Cape May, I pass this house, which is now a guest house and spy this porch. It really is the perfect spot! Look at that hammock.

The porches are spectacular in Cape May and I especially like upstairs porches. This upper deck one would be fine but the lower deck makes this a favorite house.

But this is The One. This house last year changed hands and was being painted when we visited and this year it looks splendid. Those round turrets and the fact it has both upper and lower porch. This is the best by far! The staircase even bends round. How perfect is this. It is our Cape May Crogga! (Isle of Man house that looks like sleeping beauties castle, in Port Soderick :) )

Quick glimpse of the ocean...stunning day

This house is literally a block from the sea but because of where it is, those upper stories get a beach view and what a view they have. This is a private house and is quite divine. The back is like the front with double porch top and bottom. Oh and a widows walk on top!

And Walking

We set off for the bird sanctuary...and the boys did an excellent pose for me.

It is tranquil and peaceful until we hear the family approaching from some 500 yards or more away... there are signs to be quiet for the wildlife but they don't quieten until they see us. Then they are quiet and then as they walk away, their voices continue to carry throughout the sanctuary. Some people just don't 'get it'

We end up on the beach and these shots are just priceless, of Man and Boy!

Gazing at the ocean

And Louie just taking it in his stride!

Isaac the desert pose!

This was a community market place thing, newly done up and I loved it. The cow picture is simply fantastic!!!

Crazy Golf

The water fall...we love this pitch and put and here we saw an Amish family playing the game...I did wonder how they would holiday at the beach but they looked just as happy and relaxed as we did..lovely when you can see we are all the same really and it is only the outer that is different.

Oh and the ball went 'in the drink' again..........I think that he liked that the best

Now I'm thinking this must be another, '"got it in 2, Mum" shots by Isaac.

Well Of course it is Mum!

Heavy concentration

Rare, rare shot these days, this literally happens never now. And although the passing of this behavior is sad, they are growing up and that's fine. But I had to get this picture!

Now we are on the infamous course where Nana got a hole in one. So this is some serious business here.

The Coffee Shop

Every year we go to Cape May and now of course they know us in all the shops and this coffee shop is no exception. We love the guy that owns it and he is always pleased to see us. Our favorite thing to do is.............................

Poker Dice

The boys and I can get quite competitive about this..check out those faces and spot the winner and loser

Now one of the things about Magic Brain coffee shop is they have these great cups and we got some of them from a near by store that sells them. I love them. They are so clever. Well when Damian saw this one, he couldn't work what the phrase was on the mug....and I said Bread Winner, he said he had never heard that before!!!

This was a fort that Louie built and we are spying the Sandcastles (that I had just made)... From his dug out....

He had lots of fun making tracks and things on the beach!

Now this picture is in here for two reasons....one that they are doing something that was illegal on holiday and two Louie's new bag................

He saw this bag and fell in love and he practically didn't take it off ....he is still loving it since he came home even and says that simply everything fits in it.

More illegal activity

Daddy and his boy

Now here's the point. The technology goes away and then creativity can come out. Well of course this is Louie, so the 'creativity' is a master plan on mine craft, that he is graphing out and there is a phone in his hand, for the calculations. Well that's what he told me!

There is more hugging..without technology

Ok that might be stretching it!

But look we get so bored that we compare feet....Now don't be freaked out for any reason but that is Louie's foot next to Damian's and I don't know what mine are doing there!

Being bored we find new friends and Isaac found Carlos Mandelos (named by him) the Alpaca...he begged me to buy him. What is a Mum supposed to do. Actually there was only one problem. Isaac did such a good job with Carlos that Louie completely loved him!

Another favorite place in Cape May is the Aviation museum and we go every time..this time the boys were playing in the cockpit of this plane. It was hysterical to see....

Co Pilot

Pilot

Engineer

Oh secondary job of paddle man. I hope he knows that the door is shut!

The museum has so much in it and of course something Manx! An ejector seat made on the Island by Martin Bakers of Ronaldsway Aircraft Company..

This struck me as funny....

Here they are busily doing flight checks

Oh mum is there...phewee

Would you let this Pilot out of the hanger..................................
