It's not that much of a surprise really but the month is over! Luckily I've managed to get some great pictures and what a strange month it has been here. With day to day differences in temperature it has seemed like a few seasons in one month!
We had booked to go to Cape May, Presidents weekend and it was nicely timed for our anniversary..and just wanting a mini get away. So off we went on one of the coldest weekends to Cape May. It wasn't much warmer than here but we did get away !
I'm hoping that Spring is going to come and we will be so pleased when it finally gets here! But this is what winter has been looking like here.
There are some trees that keep their leaves in winter and make the most glorious rustling sound in the wind...
Caught these guys one very cold morning taking flight
You can't beat red berries and snow
One evening this was the sunset through the trees..
I love this picture of the sky and the pink in those clouds...just lovely
The funny thing with our weather is when you get "snow fog" as the air is warmer than the ground and this fog can be quite dense. Horrible to drive in as it is so patchy and you can see this in the park, as the ground disappears
Just so weird
Then the sharper focus of the pillars...the light was just truly weird
Another amazing sunset
Our wonderful war memorial
All the colors of the sky in this one, mauve to yellow!
This roof topper just made this picture
Then of course we had a big snow storm! The light on the trees is from a street light. I really liked the effect
Same here in this one, the snow was coming in so fast that everything was coated, even the telegraph pole
As night fell it was eerie
Again the light is from a street light and the tree in the fore ground the old beech tree, ladened with snow
Look at it piled high on the branches
Sunrise and off to the bus stop
The park looking amazing
But we were over the bridge to New Jersey
No snow here
Happy play time in the apartment
Romantic dinner
Oh and Calamari Louie ! has been sighted!
But then it snowed in Cape May...
The Road was covered but look at this fantastic hitching post
It picked out these twiglets amazingly
The street was covered in seconds
As you can see we are most happy to be there....like a bizarre line up...it was actually totally freezing
Next morning we spotted a totally brave person on the beach. It really was super cold and the wind ultra keen
But as you can see they were fine in doors
The hat that Isaac bought, now he can be that Australian Bushman!
Wild weather coming in
This is the sea and if you look at the horizon is the choppiest I have ever seen a sea look!
Again warm and cosy and reflective indoors
There was a patch of blue sky I found
We also spotted ice skaters....didn't want to be weird stalker, so it is a bit far away but they are skating on a frozen pond
And these guys are sitting on it. Question, does their bum freeze to the surface? How on earth is this warm?
Great grass and amazing sky!
OMG this is frozen landscape! I never thought that I would see this ever. The estuary is frozen! Unbelievable
This is all ice and it was so many different shades of color and the browny looking ice was heaving away, as the water underneath was moving!!!!
Completely frozen as far as the eye can see
Ice on sand....
More sand ice and drift wood
The day had come for us to leave and a snow storm was moving in and Cape May had snow on the beach.
They don't treat the roads in Cape May
But it did look so pretty
Back home last weekend and it is warm enough for Louie to be running around the park
This was today at Longwood Gardens. Clearly Damian is telling a great story
They were all listening
Spikey weird tree
Beautiful snow drops
Witch hazel in bloom
Happy tired family, that's fresh air for you!
So the saying March is in like a lion and out like a lamb, well we will see. I'm glad I've been snapping away. Otherwise this would seem to have been the most boring month ever! Roll on Spring, heck roll on Summer!!!!
