Happy Tynwald Day

I know most of you have not a clue what Tynwald Day is and why would it be a Happy one anyway. Well it is our National Day in the Isle Of Man and we celebrate our forming of government and all things Manx, a day to be patriotic. The new laws are read (as Isaac says something that is dull.............yes that is very true it is in some ways a dull day but equally fascinating that this tradition has been going on for over a 1000 years!) and we watch the great and good mill about. We would have had flags flying and generally feel festive and cheery! So with all that in mind I put out our flags here and have thoughts of home.

It would be unfair of me not to mention the 4th American day of Independence. We have for the past two years made it to Cape Maye and enjoyed watching the fireworks from the beach. It is a lovely tradition. I have missed it this year. But it has been quite nice to be home here but it is so weirdly quiet as everyone seems to be away. Last night we decided to venture out and have a meal in town. A restaurant that normally has a forty minute wait time was down to 15! Unfortunately it would appear that your best staff don't work on the 4th! and in addition your meal may be a bit pooh! We won't discuss that any further but a lesson well learned. So I had to have a little lie down on my return. Just settling back into my book set at the time of the revolution in Boston (very apt) when we heard fireworks. So much fun, Stan Dianne and Andrew our neighbors were setting them off and the boys loved joining and seeing the fireworks in the alley. Later it seemed that all of West Chester had been to the precariously set up tent, selling fireworks temporarily, by the petrol station and got their stash of pyrotechnics. But it is all good fun and having no 5th of November being here nice to see and hear them. The cats might not agree with that last statement but no harm there, at least they had my bed to hide under!

We really have been quiet peeps these holidays, of course not holiday for Damian but the boys have had various activities to employ their time, namely art day camp. Louie did a pottery course and Isaac has been big boy volunteer. I have thoroughly enjoyed stories from both of them and Isaac having to deal with the youngsters that go there, the last lot being 3-4 years olds was challenging! But he is back at it next week and Louie will be off to dance day camp with Miss Rhonda and Miss Mellissa his old teachers who are setting up a new studio and so with friends all  who are familiar. He will I have no doubt at all have a wonderful time.

I don't have too many snaps but here they are.
Louie's work yet to be fired but still wonderful
 This is 'sleeping mouse'

Dr Who and the Tardis (the scarf by the way is enormous! I think it has to be at least 5 ft now!)

When I am really lucky I get a shot like this of the boys casually walking along and holding hands quite naturally. It is always a lovely sight for me and just seems so sweet. This was us last night on the way to town.
Our house on Tynwald Day!
