So what do you do on a snow day, after days of ice and missing your daily walk? Well you go out in a snow storm. OK the use of the word 'storm' is a bit much, 'blizzard' OK that too. Maybe just say that it has been snowing since the early morning and I really needed to stretch my legs. So donning the right gear...surprisingly 34 degrees feels quite warm when you have been having minus temps! So off I went with my fab trusty phone camera and pretended I was a reporter...So here is the real "Bob on the Spot" report from West Chester this morning.
So this is my house in the snow...the red really looks great against the snow...You always think monochrome landscape with snow but that isn't it, really, it is a great contrast.
As I turned around from leaving the house the plough came past. I just managed to catch this.. they will be busy today !!!! The snow has just kept coming
This is the lane I always walk along and how lovely it looks with the red of the barn....colors in snow are so amazing and I managed to find some more on the walk.
This is me in town, half way around the walk.....
The snow was coming so fast at this point and the statues are are cherubs...they look like they are shielding themselves from the wind and snow...
I wasn't the only one who was out...this lady was running...admittedly she was in the middle of the road..not something that I advocate when there is low visibility and snow ploughs about...
You can see from this picture that even though the plough has been...it isn't making much of a dent....
This bench I though looked cool...tubular and line thingey....
This is one of the main roads and visibility is really reduced now. But you may notice the colors of the street furniture still showing....
This is I think should be called 'collage of fences'...
See what I mean about color...this hydrant looks resplendent against the brick backround and his snowy coat
These poor sunflowers are quite bowed by the snow...
This fir tree was a golden green this morning and the snow just was like natures finishing touch
These oak leaves are just so orange in the snowy landscape.
Something about a path with no snowy prints of feet that makes you want to make some!
On my way home I noticed how much snow had fallen in the hour that I was out and my foot prints had once again been covered.
My garden looked so lovely
This was along my fence. I couldn't believe how much snow had fallen in the time since I had left the house
This is a panoramic shot of the front of the house and I do love the shot of color, Red house bricks and green shutters...it does look quite lovely in the snowy morning...
This is the park over the road and I thought this was a nice picture too, The little cabin is a nice focal point and the trees just proudly bearing the winter.
I am in the intersection of my road.....
These next pictures are ones that I wanted to share from a little trip I made to Longwood with Isaac last week.....
I do have a thing about this bench at Longwood, it is the symmetry of the paths and hedge arches I think. It looks so inviting.
We went up one of the tree houses and when I looked out..we saw that someone had left a message in the snow...it was just one of those moments of wonder and surprise and just ah....
So in the winter they keep the fountains on..maybe not to freeze...it was an exceptionally cold day when we were there....
This is for my friend Marisa...I have a fish eye on my mobile and I have wanted to take this tree root for months...so this is the first ever fish eye photo!!!! I took it before we went to the West Coast and forgot about him...but it is quite cool, old gnarly roots.
So there we go, a snow day can be quite productive. Hope you have enjoyed this mundane post. It is literally amazing what we see...and right now I am seeing that the snow has kept going while I've been writing...and we have a whole day of this....maybe I will be leaving by a top storey window when it stops...no just 8 inches they have forecast. Better get that large boy shovelling...
