March lions

I have a feeling that we had a lion coming into March and the same lion was about at the end. Never the less, that's three months down (and yes I am counting) and are plodding along to spring. For many of you, you are in full swing of that and knee deep in spring flowers and blossom. For Canada it is a hope that we get to that by next month. It is incredible how slow the progress of the season is. But watching the tulip shoots coming up outside the front door is a very hopeful sight.

As I wrapped up my trip to the island at the beginning of March, I had such a treat of landscape on the far shores. This is such an amazing view from the east coast to the Cumbrian hills

and flowers!

Back home it was doing this

It just kept coming

and lots of dramatic ice

followed by days of blue sky! Such a welcome sight

and now we know that the spring season is truly underway...maple syrup buckets

Off to jolly Stratford Ontario and the river for now is still frozen

And the swaying Weeping willows....true colours!

The ice is starting to melt on the river

and happiness abounds for those Geese

and the ducks...

The bright sunshine casting amazing shadows

such a clean sweep, all that white that in a matter of days is completely melted

I literally screamed when I spied these in Stratford....wow just as the snow inches back

lovely snow drops

More shoots...

and make do maple buckets

I thought that this looked like a dinosaur!

I heard an angry squawking and it was this little fellow.

lonesome glove

I honestly can't resist the snowdrops. They are so delicate and perfect.

Even the stump is making sap!

Into the first few weeks of March and the snow drops are riotous

and these guys

A whole patch of these Aconite

This woodpecker was right in front of me!

He moved so quickly and was not at all shy

He is a downy back woodpecker

These really do look like rabbits ears

I find it amazing that days before there was snow on the ground!

Abundance of the snow drop

and the American Robins have arrived!

The sunshine in this front yard revealed a sleeping dragon!

These are the purest yellow! Wow

Did you leave your sun glasses?

As the snow melted on the golf course, it gave a great place for ducks to have a paddle about

Fabulous painted rocks

and more of that situation!

Snow drops are undeterred

Bit of a blizzard one day

and later the same day!!!!

lonesome mitten...

This was the walk home and it was brisk but at least it had stopped snowing

Poor snow drops, they are covered. But we know that this lion has had it's last roar!
