February escape

It seems to be that we are in for the full slog of winter here in Canada but lucky me I get to escape. Not to a tropical place but as near as dam it! There was colour and beautiful seas. Maybe I still wore a scarf and gloves and wool attire. But never the less I was able to be somewhere else and experience the joy of spring. So here is the February contrast of Canada and the Isle of Man

So in Canada, down spouts are icicles

There is blue though

And off I go to Elora to take some pictures. So many interesting textures

and the Tooth in the gorge is surrounded by the most amazing tumbling ice formations

It really is a spectacle to behold

The river winding through the gorge

This is my favorite picture the ice being split by the water running through

I thought this was rather a clever snow blob. I think that this looks very much like a bird. The beak to the left of the blob!

and the chickadees were out in force in Elora

Faces brightly shining in the winter sun

I thought this blob of snow on the bough was almost mimicking bark. It might be I have snow brain!

But oh so pretty in the trees, although don't linger as those blobs of snow have a handy way of finding the back of your neck!

It was so bright and the trees were all angles picked out in snow

It is a long way down

But so much colour

Early morning kitchener

Bella has the right idea here! Peeka boo

Lovely Victorian Post box on the Isle of Man

Already I am seeing flowers and not snow!

Amazing skies! and coastline

Views I have seen for decades and never tire of

Back again to the lovely Sound. It was an ear ache inducing day but it was enervating

The cloud coming in like a lid but there is sea down there!

Daffodils! Beautiful golden nodding heads

Seriously is this February? that sky and the quality of the light is amazing

Soft light on the hill side as the sun goes down

And more flowers!

a dull day but I am off for an adventure

I discover a path that I never knew was there! discoveries in the place where I lived for so long. I had no idea this path existed!

This particular evening we had a real treat of a sun set

Just mesmerizing

It was the clouds that really lit up by the setting sun. What a moment to see

More spring time sightings of flowers and this time crocus everywhere

and bunches and bunches of daffs

This sea gull seemed to have taken up sentry post on this car

What beautiful snow drops and I don't think that I have seen this type before

Lovely willow

and more colours and nodding heads

These really are a trumpet flower

Bit of a fuzzy picture but lovely robin!

St Catherine's Well being a frame for Bradda Head and what about that sky! It is rugged like the stone in the arch.

But over and over the sky was ever changing on the island

Just so lovely and yes that is a bird fighting the wind
\
You often wonder as you walk around some of the ruins on the island what it was like when they were actually repelling invaders! This is the outer wall at Peel Castle

Hard line of the Horizon and rain is coming

But for now we can enjoy the views

Rather bizarre mural on a wall in Peel

and a lovely example of Peel Sandstone in these houses in the windy streets

Yes cars do go along this street!

If you squint hard you can see the Cumbrian Hills on the horizon and the shades of the hillsides

Just so we know that there is life out there, if you walked the pier maybe you would touch England?

Every day the view in Port Erin is changed and the light at the end of the day is quite breath taking

Here all the path and walls being picked out by the fading sun

So lovely to have had a taste of spring

This little track is the road to and from the cottage and on foot that's quite steep and no wonder that daily I did the 10,000 steps!

We went to the Wild life Park and I was treated to a robin singing!

The Humbolt penguins were quite happy it seemed

They are rather personable

And this lovely fellow just hanging about. That colour is super!

But I have decided that Pelicans are just a bit too big for my likening

Seriously!

That bill isn't something you need to be near! They should have pelicans as security guards, that would sort people right out

The Lemurs are quite lovely

and very curious

All time stand out moment, being with the Red Pandas. They are known for being reclusive and I have never seen them like this

I couldn't believe my luck

Literally walking towards me

I thought this was fabulous, upside down Panda

Such a lovely Red Panda

This is the fishing cat but really it just looked like a cat with small ears!

And then the Pandas were back!

hanging out and grooming at my feet!

Sorry no snacks for you, and yes I did just take your picture. In fact several times!

Right that's it, I'm off!

Hello little squirrel monkey

their fur was so soft looking and so many shades of colour

And for some reason there are a plethora of peacocks!

Look at that tail!!!! Talk about glorious

They were all just hanging out!

and ducks a plenty, not that special but fun to watch

They are quite graceful

with excellent landing skills

and touch down

These storks were rather noisy but I managed to get a picture, it did feel like they were hiding

The flamingoes amazingly are quite noisy! They make noise as they feed!!! But I liked the reflection of them in the pond. Rather jolly on a dull cold day. Certainly wouldn't see that in Canada!
