The end of January is normally when the University in West Chester does an alumni dance festival and lots of dance schools take part. Louie always has great fun just "being in it" and being part of something, is truly special. So with the anticipated snow storm bearing down on us, we had hoped the show would go on. But it quickly became apparent that with a slow moving storm and the prospect of nearly two foot of snow, that the show would be impacted. I was personally gutted, as I truly enjoy this show and seeing all the dance studios perform is just so wonderful. Due to the nature of how this show is put together, many studios and dances from different places, it won't be repeated. But as I sat in on tech week I have some great pictures, so maybe it can live on a little and imagine Louie dancing and being wonderful!
We had a light dusting of snow, just enough for it to be pretty
This was not THE SNOW STORM
So tech week begins and as always...lots of hanging about. The dance is Newsies, from the Broadway Musical and they are New York paper boys. This was a large number and joint effort with many alumni in it. Louie was centre stage and begins the dance!
As they are waiting I am snapping away
And I start to see a pattern!
OMG
Can you see what he is doing ?
Yup! he's reading the paper...I laughed out loud at that one. It's hysterical
I love this picture, it truly is the setting up of the shot
Now we got them
These are the folks on the other side of the stage
Yes! he's still reading the paper
This bit is a bit blurred but it is the bit in the song when it says "look at me! I'm the king of New York" it still gives me goosebumps
So this is how it started for real, Louie dead centre
Striding forward
Getting in place
Rolling the paper...well there is an art to that you know
That's the sort of final bit, then they all were to run into the audience and the picture below is the end.
I love this picture, a bit blurred but just fun.
Then onto the number they would have performed as their dance school and it is 'step in time' and the music is from Mary Poppins...again he is centre stage
He does his own little bit
This is all about movement and numbers and it did look great!
So "link your elbows step in time"
So all their feet are off the ground!
Big finish............it is so disappointing that they didn't get to perform...they were so good and did so much work but faced with the University closing, there was no show to do....and no stage to do it on...and the snow came
I still can't believe this is what it looked like Saturday morning and it wasn't done yet and can you see my obvious mistake...always always remember to prop gate open!!!!! and each time we have a storm I forget! Too late now..
Managed it get bird on the feeder in flight and it is a cardinal. The storm was so long, Friday night into Saturday night that the birds were out feeding....during the storm. Plucky little things.
Bird in the Mulberry Tree mid blizzard
More birds and far right caught another in flight.
Railings by pool getting buried
Just literally a blizzard
It was just coming down...
So what do you so in a blizzard (with power) you write that novel....
My library window
Oh right well we could shovel but what is the point!
Luckily the killer instinct hasn't quite kicked in....yet!
And the blizzard continues
and Isaac is writing...
This is the parking lot behind the house
This is our drive now the snow is gearing up
Visibility as we go into Saturday night is zero
Snow on our back roof
our property and the parking lot behind us are buried
Snow on the roof from inside my first floor
The moon.....that night was eire and although this is blurred, I love this picture, so atmospheric
Then Sunday morning and wow....there are waves of snow
The garden is blanketed in a massive amount of snow
It looks so beautiful as the sun rises on the snow ocean
Birds back to the feeder
The dig out begins
Wow that is a lot of snow and Mr F decides that now and I mean right now, he needs a snow blower
Yes somehow he has to get through this!
There's the mini
But the alley is blocked! more digging troups
Ah yes snow man arrives in the form of Isaac the fantastic explorer. I am reflected in his sunglasses. What a hoot.!
One of the houses in our lane
Marshall Sq near to us
Our house getting it's January picture, for the calendar next year
Look at the hitching post!
Our next door neighbours
The corner house of the street and icicles. The melt has begun
One of our gates! and yes that is how high the snow is
Those lumps are actually cars!!!!!
More lanes, not plowed yet...
Lumps from the other directions and yes they are cars and yes people have to dig them out! It's back breaking work and then when you return to your spot, some kind soul will have stolen it.!
Wing mirror peeping
Holly
Ah there is no such thing as too much fun in snow and when you have a snow blower life is good!!! That sun shining down on Damian and the snow shooting back over the fence....he can't deny it, that's fun right there!!!
Photo by Isaac...and so another snow day for Bella
oh what a snow blower can do...this is Mr Fozards work
This is the street where the exchange is.
And yes you can see parking meters..but only and the red trucks are there to take the snow away....now that is a long job for our little town.
This is on Church Street, and the ice is slipping off the roof...wow!
The Church is so picturesque
Cars are still buried....and the car looks like it has antennas
But we can still smile
I think that's smiling ...............
